CLAIMS VS EVIDENCE
NoFap benefits. What holds up, and what doesn't.
Short answer: there's no good evidence that avoiding masturbation raises testosterone long term, builds muscle or gives 'superpowers'. But cutting back on heavy porn use may help some men with arousal, erection problems with partners, and a sense of control. The benefits men report are real to them, but they mostly come from changing habits, not from retaining semen.
Claim: higher testosterone
The most cited study (Jiang et al., 2003) found testosterone peaked around day 7 of abstinence, then returned to baseline. Other research shows small, temporary changes around ejaculation. No study shows a lasting rise from long-term abstinence.
Claim: it cures ED
For men whose erection issues appear only with partners but not with porn, reducing porn and changing masturbation habits can help. The evidence is mostly case reports and small studies. For men with vascular, hormonal or anxiety-driven ED, abstinence alone won't fix it.
Claim: more energy and confidence
Many men report feeling more motivated. Plausible explanations: more time, better sleep if late-night scrolling stops, the confidence of keeping a commitment, and expectation effects. These are real benefits, but they don't require the idea that ejaculation drains you.
Where it can backfire
Research on 'perceived porn addiction' shows distress often comes from moral conflict about use rather than the amount. Strict streaks can create shame and anxiety after relapses. Regular ejaculation is also associated with a lower prostate cancer risk.
A better approach
Instead of a streak, try a defined experiment: reduce porn for 30 days, track libido, morning erections and partner sex, and compare. If the change helps, keep it. If you feel compulsive or distressed, a sex therapist is more useful than a counter.
WHAT YOU GET
Built for signal, not noise.
No lasting T boost
Testosterone rises briefly around day 7, then normalizes.
Porn habits matter
Cutting back can help partner-specific ED.
Track, don't streak
Measured experiments beat shame-driven counters.

QUESTIONS
What people ask before signing up.
Does NoFap increase testosterone?
Only briefly. Studies show a peak around day 7 that returns to baseline. There's no long-term increase.
Can NoFap cure erectile dysfunction?
It may help men whose ED is linked to heavy porn use. It won't fix physical or hormonal causes.
Is masturbation bad for you?
No. Masturbation is normal and healthy. Problems come from compulsive use or distress, not the act itself.
What happens after 30 days of NoFap?
Some men report higher arousal with partners and more motivation. Effects vary and are partly habit and expectation.
