BODY
Average penis size. What measured data actually shows.
Short answer: in studies where clinicians did the measuring, the average erect penis is about 5.2 inches (13.1 cm) long and 4.6 inches (11.7 cm) around. The average flaccid length is about 3.6 inches (9.2 cm). Most men who worry about size fall well within the normal range, and size has far less effect on partner satisfaction than most men assume.
The numbers
A 2015 systematic review in BJU International (Veale et al.) pooled measurements from over 15,000 men. Average flaccid length was 9.16 cm (3.6 in), stretched flaccid 13.24 cm (5.2 in), and erect 13.12 cm (5.2 in). Erect girth averaged 11.66 cm (4.6 in). Only about 2.3% of men fall below 4 inches erect.
Why self-reports run high
Surveys where men measure themselves consistently report bigger averages, often 6 inches or more. Measurement bias, rounding up, and volunteer bias (men who are proud of their size sign up) all inflate the numbers. Porn distorts the reference point further.
Growers and showers
Flaccid size predicts erect size poorly. Some men gain a lot of length with an erection, others very little. Cold, stress and exercise also shrink flaccid length temporarily. Judging yourself by flaccid size in a locker room is close to meaningless.
What partners say
In surveys, most women report being satisfied with their partner's size, and many men overestimate how much it matters to partners. Erection quality, duration, communication and attention to partner pleasure rank higher than length in what drives sexual satisfaction.
When size worry becomes a problem
Persistent distress about a normal-sized penis is sometimes called small penis anxiety and can feed performance anxiety and erection problems. Enlargement pills, pumps for growth and surgery carry real risks with little proven benefit. Talking to a doctor or sex therapist is the evidence-based route.

QUESTIONS
What people ask before signing up.
What is the average erect penis size?
About 5.2 inches (13.1 cm) long and 4.6 inches (11.7 cm) in girth, based on clinician-measured studies.
What is considered a small penis?
Clinically, a micropenis is under about 3 inches erect, which is rare. Most men worried about size are in the normal range.
Does penis size matter to women?
For most partners, much less than men think. Surveys show most women are satisfied with their partner's size.
Can you increase penis size?
No pill or exercise has been shown to increase size. Improving erection quality can make erections fuller and firmer.
