ED BY AGE

ED in your 20s. More common than you think.

Erectile dysfunction in your 20s is more common than most men assume: one clinic study found roughly 1 in 4 men seeking help for new ED was 40 or younger, and a large US cohort of men aged 18 to 31 found about 14% had at least mild ED. In young men the cause is usually psychological or lifestyle related (anxiety, porn habits, alcohol, poor sleep), which means it is often very fixable.

How common it is

A 2013 Italian study found 26% of men seeking help for new ED were under 40. Occasional erection trouble is close to universal; the concern is when it happens in most encounters for several months.

Check your morning erections

If you still get regular morning or night erections, your blood vessels and nerves work. That points to anxiety, context or habits rather than a physical problem.

The usual causes

Performance anxiety, new partners, heavy porn use, binge drinking, cannabis, poor sleep, chronic stress and some medications (especially antidepressants). Smoking and vaping also damage blood vessels earlier than people expect.

When to see a doctor

If morning erections have disappeared, if you also have low libido, fatigue or weight gain, or if you have diabetes risk factors. ED can be an early sign of heart or hormone issues, even young.

What helps

Sleep 7 to 9 hours, cut binge drinking, exercise, reduce porn, and talk openly with your partner. Sex therapy and CBT work well for anxiety. Doctors may prescribe a PDE5 inhibitor short term to break the anxiety cycle.

WHAT YOU GET

QUESTIONS

What people ask before signing up.

Occasional trouble is normal. Consistent trouble is not rare either, and usually has a treatable cause.

Can stress cause ED in your 20s?

Yes. Stress and anxiety are among the most common causes in young men.

Does porn cause ED in young men?

It can contribute for some men, mostly through conditioning and anxiety. Research is mixed, but cutting back helps many.

Should I take Viagra in my 20s?

Only with a doctor. It can help short term, but addressing the cause matters more.
